A farmers’ protest took place in Wrocław. “We are dealing with an absolutely ideologized, totalitarian system of plundering Europeans. Citizens must be the spark that will blow apart this harmful, ideological system based on buying carbon emission allowances,” said Anna Zalewska, an MEP from Law and Justice (PiS), in an interview with a TV Republika reporter.
Farmers’ Protest in Wrocław
Today, a farmers’ protest was organized in Wrocław. In the morning hours, farmers arrived with tractors at the parking lot of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office. They handed a petition to Lower Silesian Deputy Voivode Artur Jurkowski. They then moved toward Widok Street, in front of the European Parliament Liaison Office in Wrocław.
The protest was organized by the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union of Individual Farmers Solidarity. Members of the Gazeta Polska Clubs from Wrocław also took part in the demonstration. Protesters pointed to the crisis in Polish agriculture and the lack of a policy protecting European farming by the European Commission, while production costs continue to rise. Farmers also emphasized high energy prices and “the destruction of the economy by climate programs such as the Green Deal.”
Zalewska: “Citizens Must Be the Spark”
MEP Law and Justice (PiS) Anna Zalewska attended the protest. In an interview with TV Republika, she stressed that “we are dealing with an absolutely ideologized, totalitarian system of plundering Europeans.”
“All these indicators, percentages, and emissions are nothing more than algorithms that are impossible for citizens to meet. Solidarity knows that we are standing on the edge of a precipice and also sees that in the European Union we are facing turbo-charged measures. By 2040, carbon dioxide emissions are to be reduced by as much as 90 percent,” she stated.
She also noted that from the level of the European Parliament it is clearly visible that “everyone is playing some kind of game – seeking smaller or larger compromises, buying and selling themselves to the detriment of citizens.”
“It is citizens who must be the spark that will blow apart this harmful, ideological system based on buying carbon emission allowances,” she said.
She also recalled that “the European Commission, with the silent consent of the Polish government, decided that the EU-Mercosur agreement would be a provisional agreement.”
