Tsikhanouskaya thanks Polish President for role in Poczobut’s release, praises “sustained engagement”

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya reported that she spoke with President Karol Nawrocki during the Three Seas Initiative summit in Dubrovnik. “I expressed my gratitude to Poland and to the President personally – for his sustained engagement at the highest level on the case of Andrzej Poczobut,” she said.

The leader of the Belarusian opposition, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, announced that she had met with President Karol Nawrocki on the sidelines of the Three Seas Initiative summit in Dubrovnik.

In a statement she emphasized Poland’s role in efforts on behalf of Andrzej Poczobut.

“I expressed my gratitude to Poland and to the President personally – for his sustained engagement at the highest level on the case of Andrzej Poczobut, who was released today,”

she said.

Tsikhanouskaya also pointed to the president’s earlier actions. In her post, she recalled that Andrzej Poczobut had been awarded Poland’s highest state distinction, the Order of the White Eagle, last year.

According to her account, the conversation also concerned the current situation and further cooperation.

“We also discussed recent developments and the next steps in our cooperation,”

the Belarusian opposition leader said.
