Donald Tusk published a rather peculiar message today. In terms of content, it serves as an appeal directed at coalition partners. Meanwhile, Sebastian Kaleta, a Law and Justice MP, comments that this is… a plan for a coup d’état.
Tusk Appeals to Coalition Partners
The unlawful seizure of public media and the prosecutor’s office, the appointment of a “new” National Prosecutor through a “decree”—these are just a few examples of the lawlessness exhibited by the current ruling party.
Donald Tusk, when previously explaining these tactics, openly spoke about “combative democracy.” Now, amid visible attempts to influence the legal and democratic outcomes of the presidential elections, he has made yet another statement with quite alarming undertones.
“The leaders of Coalition 15X face a serious test. I understand it’s difficult to find legal and effective ways of acting in this constitutional mess we’ve inherited from PiS. If you don’t know how to behave, then at least behave decently, just in case. And do not allow yourselves to be divided,” wrote Tusk today.
Kaleta: A Plan for a Coup d’État
Though Tusk’s post appeared on X only recently, it has already sparked widespread commentary among internet users, including opposition politicians.
Sebastian Kaleta, a Law and Justice MP, wrote: “Sir, you are publicly encouraging your coalition partners to break the law and commit crimes. By doing this, you have aligned yourself with Roman Giertych and are equally detached from reality. In truth, you’ve exposed that this entire farce we’re witnessing following Trzaskowski’s defeat is your planned coup d’état. It won’t succeed.”
