“What a LOT! Another three new Boeing 737 MAX 8s are already in Poland!” Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced. PiS MP Mateusz Morawiecki recalled what Tusk said about Poland’s national airline more than a decade ago. At the time, Tusk argued that LOT was a “bottomless pit” that should be… privatized.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk published a post today on the platform X, in which he boasted that three new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft for LOT Polish Airlines had arrived in Poland.
“What a LOT! Another three new Boeing 737 MAX 8s are already in Poland!” Tusk wrote.
LOT spokesperson Krzysztof Moczulski noted that a total of 13 such aircraft have been ordered. He added that the remaining eight are expected to arrive in Poland by mid-2026. The new planes are intended to strengthen the carrier’s narrow-body fleet.
Tusk on LOT in the Past: A “Bottomless Pit”
PiS MP Mateusz Morawiecki responded to the prime minister’s post.
“Your words, big guy?” he asked, attaching to his own post a recording of Tusk from years ago, when he spoke about the need to privatize LOT.
“We have made a decision regarding an amendment to the law—an amendment that should enable us to privatize PLL LOT. There is no doubt that if we do not want to keep pouring public funds into this bottomless pit, the only realistic alternative to a scenario of repeatedly recurring problems is privatization,” Tusk said at the time.
