TV Republika was not granted entry to the press conference at which changes in the government were to be announced. “Nothing has changed. Tusk has become a sort of brand. He’s an inept man who can’t do anything,” commented MP Marek Jakubiak.
For months now, the Free Speech Zone network has been denied access to press conferences organised by members of Donald Tusk’s government. That “tradition” continued today. At 10 a.m., detailed information on the government reshuffle was scheduled to be announced, yet TV Republika was not allowed entry.
“Nothing has changed. Tusk is already a kind of brand. He’s an inept man who can’t do anything. Recently, he even went to play football and broke his leg. He can’t even play ping pong,” commented MP Marek Jakubiak on the program Michał #Rachoń.
In his view, “Donald Tusk’s problem is not the reshuffle, but the lack of personnel; he doesn’t have a team.”
“It’s a collection of random people who are given tasks to carry out, even though they have absolutely no expertise in the areas they’re assigned to,”
he added.
Complaint Upheld
It’s worth recalling that in June of this year, the District Court in Warsaw upheld a complaint by TV Republika regarding the refusal to launch an investigation into the suppression of press criticism by the ruling authorities and referred the case back to the prosecutor for further proceedings. The case concerned the denial of accreditation to TV Republika journalists to attend a Cabinet meeting and the Prime Minister’s press conference.
“We now have two court decisions ordering the prosecution of this crime, the initiation of an investigation. A crime committed at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM), with Donald Tusk as Prime Minister, who is committing a very serious offence, or at the very least, his officials are, by suppressing press criticism. At times, there were attempts to use force against our journalists. Denial of access to press conferences, attempts at intimidation, threats against journalists,”
commented the station’s president, Tomasz Sakiewicz.
