Tusk Did Not Support Trzaskowski. A Stark Assessment of the KO Candidate’s Defeat

“I’m not surprised that this government dragged Rafał Trzaskowski down like a millstone,” said former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Trzaskowski Lost. Is the Government to Blame?
Rafał Trzaskowski, the Civic Coalition’s candidate, lost the presidential election to Karol Nawrocki. This outcome has sparked public debate about whether the defeat was the result of declining support for the government, which continues to fall in successive polls.

This view is shared by former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Morawiecki: The Government Has Received a Red Card
Speaking today on Polsat News, Morawiecki stated:

“What matters most is that the government has been shown a yellow card—or perhaps even a red one—by the citizens. Given how this government governs—or rather, fails to govern—it seems they try to avoid missteps simply by not getting out of bed in the morning. It’s hard to trip up when you don’t move at all. This is an extraordinarily passive and lazy administration, especially in the face of crisis and difficult circumstances. Its actions are barely visible.”

The Law and Justice (PiS) politician added that the KO candidate was ultimately “dragged down.”

“I’m not surprised that this government pulled Rafał Trzaskowski down like a millstone. This is not just a defeat for the government or for Trzaskowski himself—it is a failure of a certain vision, or more precisely, the absence of even a basic economic development strategy for the Polish people.”
