According to “Gazeta Wyborcza”, the government is set to soon present what it calls the “dangerous ties” between President Karol Nawrocki and the cryptocurrency market. “Karol Nawrocki has nothing to do with cryptocurrencies. I understand this as a form of revenge for the two vetoes, and I understand that this is an attempt by Donald Tusk to go on the offensive – something he has already announced – trying to use cryptocurrencies to portray the entire Polish right-wing landscape,” said the head of the National Security Bureau, Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz.
In today’s edition of “Gazeta Wyborcza”, Wojciech Czuchnowski claims that Donald Tusk’s government is “preparing a public presentation of evidence collected by the services regarding ties between Karol Nawrocki’s circle and some right-wing politicians with the cryptocurrency market”. At the same time, the government intends to file notifications with the prosecutor’s office.
The article refers to alleged “links between Karol Nawrocki and the company Zondacrypto”. The names of Janusz Kowalski, Przemysław Wipler and Adam Bielan also appear in the text.
Cenckiewicz was also asked about the matter on Polsat News. “Karol Nawrocki has nothing to do with cryptocurrencies. I understand this as a form of revenge for the two vetoes, and I understand that this is an attempt by Donald Tusk to go on the offensive – something he has already announced – trying to use cryptocurrencies to portray the entire Polish right-wing landscape, essentially from Law and Justice (PiS) circles, through media such as TV Republika, all the way to Confederation (Konfederacja),” he assessed. He added mockingly that “if this report turns out like the Stróżyk report [regarding alleged Russian influence], then congratulations.” In his view, “this will be a completely unsuccessful attempt.”
Speaking on TV Republika, Deputy Head of the Chancellery of the President Adam Andruszkiewicz said: “I find it amusing – it’s a circus. Prime Minister Tusk, who held regular meetings with Putin, had Russian contacts, was described by Russian media as their man in Warsaw, will now hold President Nawrocki accountable for alleged contacts – the same President who is being prosecuted by the Russian Federation for dismantling Soviet monuments in Poland.” He added: “This speaks for itself. Tusk is making a fool of himself in this matter. I cannot disclose details of the classified session of the Sejm [on cryptocurrencies], but reportedly MPs were yawning heavily at those ‘major revelations’ that were supposed to be presented there, so apparently there were no major ‘news’ items.”
At the end of November 2025, the President vetoed the cryptocurrency bill, stating that it introduced excessive, ambiguous and disproportionate solutions. The veto triggered a fierce reaction from the ruling camp, which attacked the President and made, among other things, allegations of links to the Russian mafia.
The ruling camp unsuccessfully attempted to override the presidential veto, but then passed the bill again in the same wording. It was vetoed again by the President in mid-February 2026.
“For the second time, I received a bill virtually identical to the one I had already vetoed. One detail was changed; the fundamental errors were not removed,” President Karol Nawrocki stated in a recording published on the X platform.
The President invited the government to “engage in substantive cooperation in drafting a new bill that will ensure transaction security, tax clarity and conditions for the development of modern technologies.”
