Tusk Raises Concerns Over “Matecki’s App”; Żaryn Accuses Government of Political Manipulation

Donald Tusk announced that the Internal Security Agency (ABW) has submitted a notice to the prosecutor’s office regarding an application used by members of the Election Monitoring Movement (Ruch Kontroli Wyborów) during the June 1st vote to verify voting certificates.

“Once again, we are the target of blatant manipulation and emotional games. Where is the state’s response to campaigns illegally promoting Trzaskowski and attacking Karol Nawrocki?” commented Stanisław Żaryn, advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland.

Tusk Talks About Matecki’s Illegal App

Following the official announcement of election results by the National Electoral Commission, members of the Civic Coalition (KO) and the Strong Together group began spreading theories of alleged electoral fraud. Today, Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed the issue. He spoke of Matecki’s App — a tool designed to verify voting certificates, promoted by PiS MP Dariusz Matecki among members of the Election Monitoring Movement.

“There is a lot of talk about what may be an illegal application — the so-called Matecki App. This is not about vote tampering or incorrect vote counting, but possibly about a criminal offense,” Tusk stated.

The Prime Minister informed that the Internal Security Agency had filed a criminal complaint with the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw. The complaint — a result of prior citizen reports and ABW’s preliminary checks — was filed under Article 249 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to the disruption of electoral procedures.

Żaryn: “Once Again, We Are the Target of Brazen Manipulation”

Stanisław Żaryn responded to the Prime Minister’s statements in a post on platform X.

“Once again, we are the subject of blatant manipulation and emotional exploitation. Where is the state’s action in response to illegal campaigns promoting Trzaskowski and attacking Karol Nawrocki and Sławomir Mentzen? Is there an investigation underway? Has the ABW submitted a complaint to the prosecutor’s office? Beware of manipulation! For quite some time, those in power have been attempting to convince the public that the greatest threat to the integrity of the election campaign is support for Karol Nawrocki. That is a lie!” he emphasized.

Żaryn argued that “the most serious incident in this campaign was the use of government apparatus to target an opposition candidate, as well as illegal operations in support of Rafał Trzaskowski — activities that were tacitly accepted by the state institutions responsible for ensuring the security of the campaign and the elections.”

“Let us not allow ourselves to be manipulated! We must investigate the government’s inaction in the face of unlawful support for Rafał Trzaskowski. The NASK scandal — that should be the main issue following this campaign,” he concluded.
