Arrest of Matecki
This morning, shortly before 9:00 AM, ABW (Internal Security Agency) officers arrested PiS MP Dariusz Matecki. We are reporting the events live on our channel. On Thursday, the Sejm, with the votes of the ruling coalition, approved Matecki’s detention and temporary arrest. Earlier, on Wednesday evening, Matecki voluntarily waived his parliamentary immunity in this case.
How did it happen?
As Matecki’s attorney informed, at 8:45 AM on Friday, MP Dariusz Matecki was detained by ABW on his way to the prosecutor’s office. The prosecutor’s office then stated: “The detained MP Dariusz M. will be brought to the National Prosecutor’s Office on Friday, where he will be charged with committing six crimes and interrogated as a suspect.”
Later that day, the MP is to be brought to the National Prosecutor’s Office, where “the prosecutor will announce charges of committing six crimes and question him as a suspect.”
As reported by TV Republika journalist Michał Gwardyński, “three ABW vans blocked Matecki’s car, a dozen or so officers jumped out, broke open the car doors, and pulled the MP out.”
Bodnar Overjoyed
Adam Bodnar, who on Friday chaired a meeting of EU justice ministers in Brussels as part of Poland’s EU presidency, commented on the case:
“As for MP Matecki, this is quite a precedent, as the Sejm has approved his detention and temporary arrest.”
Moreover, he stated that “the natural consequence of these actions is his arrest, the presentation of charges, and then a court motion for temporary arrest.”
As we can see – the circus continues, and the witch hunt is in full swing. Nothing makes the “Silni Razem” group happier than a public spectacle staged by the current government.
Sakiewicz: You Will Go to Jail!
Tomasz Sakiewicz, TV Republika’s EIC, commented on the matter live on air:
“The prosecutor, before he completely broke down – because I had the impression he was shaking with nerves, knowing he was part of a criminal group – is depriving people of their freedom and fundamental rights, acting against the Polish Constitution. This entire environment, sooner or later, must end up in prison. We are dealing with crimes against human freedoms, the constitutional system of Poland, and the justice system,” he said referring to a press conference by a representative of Bodnar’s National Prosecutor’s Office.
“The prosecutor explained that they could not take action against Matecki earlier because they did not have any official documents from the Sejm, even though he voluntarily reported to them,” he added.
Sakiewicz also revealed what happened overnight outside the TV Republika headquarters!
“Meanwhile, all night long, special services were spying on Republika – we have evidence of this and will publish it in due time – to track MP Matecki. On what basis was the Republika newsroom being monitored? They did not decide to attack because, after the previous attempt, they understood that we would not let anyone in here. Why were operational methods at the level of counterintelligence and espionage used for an alleged violation of the Labor Code? Such operational measures are used for dismantling major spy networks. We are witnessing a massive assault on fundamental values and freedoms.”, said the EIC of Republika.
He also made an appeal to Donald Tusk’s team:
“If anyone thinks they can act this way and not be held accountable, they are out of their mind. Gentlemen from the December 13 coalition – you are already in the archives, under the spotlights of institutions guarding democracy and human rights in the USA. You will be held accountable! If you think otherwise, it means you completely misunderstand life and how the world works. You will be held very strictly accountable for this. Some of you will end up in prison for many years – for what you are doing. There is no other way. You are destroying Polish democracy, freedom of speech, and human rights.”
