“I cannot appear at the prosecutor’s office because not only was the deadline not met, but I also have a court hearing on that day, for which I have been mandatorily summoned,” said today the CEO of TV Republika, Tomasz Sakiewicz. The prosecutor’s office has once again summoned Sakiewicz for questioning as a witness on June 11 at 9:00 a.m.
The National Prosecutor’s Office has again summoned Tomasz Sakiewicz, CEO of TV Republika, for questioning as a witness. The summons concerns a case conducted against, among others, the former Minister of Justice, Zbigniew Ziobro.
The questioning is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the National Prosecutor’s Office (ul. Postępu 3, Warsaw).
“I hereby oblige you to submit all documentation (in the original or in a certified copy) concerning the employment of Zbigniew Ziobro at Telewizja Republika S.A.” reads the letter signed by prosecutor Piotr Woźniak from the National Prosecutor’s Office. This is the second summons issued to Tomasz Sakiewicz by the prosecution led by Waldemar Żurek and Dariusz Korneluk in the case concerning Zbigniew Ziobro. The first hearing took place at the National Prosecutor’s Office headquarters on May 20, 2026.
Sakiewicz: “I cannot appear”
In response, Tomasz Sakiewicz stated that he is unable to attend the Thursday questioning.
“I cannot appear at the prosecutor’s office because not only was the deadline not met, but I also have a court hearing on that day for which I have been mandatorily summoned,” he said on social media, CEO of TV Republika.
He also showed a scan of the request to change the date of the questioning. Previously, in an interview with Niezalezna.pl, Tomasz Sakiewicz stated that he is being summoned by “a person claiming to be the National Prosecutor, who is illegally holding this position.”
“In this case, he certifies falsely that he wants to question me regarding official misconduct, while at the same time demanding that I provide information concerning Ziobro’s employment. I do not hire officials, I am not a public official, therefore there is a real suspicion that they want me to provide information concerning another investigation, about which I was not informed, and in which I could potentially be charged. So they are trying to trap me in a legal ambush,” said the CEO of TV Republika.
As he noted, “no deadlines are being respected, because I am essentially being ordered to appear at the prosecutor’s office from one day to the next, while the Code of Criminal Procedure provides for seven days. Generally speaking, my request to lift confidentiality was not considered, and instead a fine was imposed.”
“I think the aim of the prosecutor’s office is to arrest me,” emphasized Tomasz Sakiewicz.
The journalist added that in this case “the law is being violated at every step – from the summons itself, the identity of the person issuing it, the legal basis on which I am summoned, attempts to mislead, and the failure to inform me about the possibility of being charged.”
