TVP in Liquidation Launches Political Series — Reset Removed, Propaganda Begins

Telewizja Polska, currently in liquidation, intends to produce TV series about the Justice Fund and Pegasus. This is not a joke—the institution, which under the law should cease operating, wants to invest in political productions aimed at attacking the opposition. Meanwhile, the series Reset, inconvenient for those in power, was removed on the very first day after the takeover of TVP.

“We are preparing for serial productions based on scripts written by life itself—those of the Justice Fund and Pegasus scandals,” announced Tomasz Sygut in an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza. This is one of the threads in a lengthy conversation with an employee of the public broadcaster now in liquidation.

Let us recall that several years ago Michał Rachoń and Sławomir Cenckiewicz prepared the documentary-based series Reset, which portrayed the pro-Russian policy of Donald Tusk’s government during the first term of the PO–PSL coalition. When the so-called “entry group” took over the public media, their first decision was to remove the authority-inconvenient Reset.

Now, while the media are in a state of liquidation, the television broadcaster wants to produce series with political themes—except that these will target the current opposition.

The timeline for preparing these series has not yet been disclosed, but it is not hard to guess: if the TVP-in-liquidation team is preparing now, the premieres can likely be expected during the parliamentary election campaign.

TVP in liquidation. Viewership will not return, as audiences have chosen Republika

That is not all. Tomasz Sygut also stated that it will no longer be possible to rebuild the former TVP’s audience figures. Why?

“I fear that maintaining viewership even at an average level of 4 percent will not be possible anytime soon. The market has changed—streaming is growing, live television is increasingly watched online, and above all many viewers have moved to TV Republika. Some of them permanently,” he said.

Election campaign. “Trzaskowski had the greatest exposure”

The election campaign was also discussed. Sygut admitted that Rafał Trzaskowski “had the greatest exposure,” while claiming that Karol Nawrocki did not accept invitations, which “had to translate into the statistics.”

Sygut also referred to attacks on Nawrocki involving information about what he called a “taken-over studio apartment, football-hooligan brawls, or a specific kind of work at the Grand Hotel.” “TVP told the truth,” he stated. This will likely still be tested, as with regard to one of these threads President Nawrocki has filed a lawsuit against Onet.
