Two Mysterious Fires at the 1st Warsaw Armoured Brigade. We Have Information from the Fire Service

In April this year, two fires broke out in the area of the 1st Warsaw Armoured Brigade named after General Tadeusz Kościuszko, the Niezależna.pl portal has established. Brigadier Artur Laudy, press officer for the Municipal Commander of the State Fire Service of the Capital City of Warsaw, told us that no one was injured in either incident.

Mysterious fires

Recently, we reported on a series of troubling forest fires in the immediate vicinity of strategic military facilities in Zielonka near Warsaw. These areas, which include the Military Institute of Armament Technology (WITU) and the Military Electronic Works (WZE), are protected by the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW).

According to our information, traces were discovered at the scene that may indicate deliberate, planned arson.

An unofficial source told us that yesterday afternoon, fire brigade units (several vehicles) and police were also carrying out operations in the Zielonka area, cordoning off a large section of land. We attempted to confirm this information with the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Wołomin, but were unable to obtain a comment.

Fire near the 1st Warsaw Armoured Brigade

In recent days, further mysterious fires have occurred—this time in the area of the 1st Warsaw Armoured Brigade named after General Tadeusz Kościuszko. The information was confirmed to us by Brigadier Artur Laudy, press officer for the Municipal Commander of the State Fire Service of the Capital City of Warsaw. The fire in this area broke out twice in April this year: on April 16 and April 23.

The first fire covered an area of approximately 200 square meters. Two fire units were involved in the operation, including the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Wesoła, with additional support provided by the Military Fire Service. No injuries were reported.

On April 23, a report of a fire was received at 5:25 p.m. Four fire units were dispatched to the scene—three medium vehicles and one heavy vehicle. Both State Fire Service and Volunteer Fire Service units took part in the operation, including two units from the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Wesoła. A total of 16 firefighters were involved.

Upon arrival, the incident commander confirmed a forest floor fire covering an area of one hectare. In the initial phase, firefighters secured the area and deployed two fire streams in an offensive operation, encircling the fire.

The fire was brought under control after two additional fire streams were introduced. Firefighters then proceeded with extinguishing operations—the burnt area was thoroughly soaked, and the site was checked using a thermal imaging camera to rule out hidden hotspots. No one was injured in this fire either.

The State Fire Service did not confirm whether the fire occurred directly within the military training ground. However, the Ministry of National Defence was listed as the landowner in official records. No indications of deliberate arson were identified. The scene was not handed over to the police for investigation.

The State Fire Service also reported that no other fires had been recorded in this area over the past several months.
