It is known for sure that Ukraine will not receive an invitation to join NATO at the Vilnius summit. U.S. President Joe Biden has confirmed that it is too early for that, and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has made it clear several times that as long as the war continues, admitting Ukraine is not possible. NATO wants to upgrade diplomatic relations with Kiev to the highest possible level. Meanwhile, today Canada pledged to deploy up to 1,200 more troops in Latvia as part of a NATO plan to reinforce its battalions to combat-ready brigade level to deter Russian aggression in the Baltic region.
