Ukrainian Wanted with Interpol “Red Notice” to Be Expelled from Poland

A 41-year-old Ukrainian citizen was detained by the Wołomin police. He was sought with a so-called Interpol red notice, among others for double murder and sexual offenses. The man faces extradition from Poland.

The 41-year-old from Ukraine had been hiding from justice. In his home country, he was wanted for a crime against sexual freedom and double murder. In Poland, he also broke the law – driving under the influence and creating a hazard on the road.

Wołomin police officers detained the man as he was getting off a train at the station. The detainee was taken to a police detention center and then transferred to the prosecutor’s office. Because he is wanted with a so-called Interpol red notice, the procedure for his extradition will begin. At the request of the prosecutor, the court decided that he will spend the next 7 days in custody.

A “red notice” indicates the highest level of international search and informs law enforcement agencies in all countries that the person is a dangerous criminal. It is a category indicating that the individual is sought for arrest and extradition.
