Up to 500 Belarusians may have entered Poland illegally? A 40-year-old Ukrainian woman detained in the case

The Border Guard from Pomerania reported that at least 230 Belarusians entered Poland illegally using fraudulently obtained visas. An investigation conducted since December 2025 led to a 40-year-old Ukrainian woman who has been detained in connection with the case.

Border Guard officers from Władysławowo were verifying documents whose authenticity they had doubts about. Their attention was drawn to one of the premises in Łódź, where Belarusians arriving in Poland were allegedly employed. The founder of the business was a Ukrainian citizen who established a limited liability company in December 2022.

People employed by her were tasked with cleaning buildings and industrial facilities, as well as clothing production, construction work, and trade. As it turned out, the activity was not limited to running a standard business as described, but also included organizing foreigners’ illegal border crossings.

“From the very beginning of its existence until June 2023, she issued nearly 500 declarations of entrusting work to a foreigner, which she registered in short intervals at the local County Labour Office. The price for each of them was up to 400 euros,” the Maritime Border Guard Unit reported.

The case is developing

So far, officers have identified the data of around 230 Belarusian citizens who, at Polish consular offices in Belarus, obtained visas on the basis of these documents through fraud. According to the Border Guard’s findings, the foreigners were aware that they were acting unlawfully.

The Border Guard says the investigation is still ongoing, as investigators have established that the Ukrainian woman acted in cooperation with other, as yet unidentified individuals, while her knowledge of the overall scheme was limited.

“Her role consisted in providing her personal data in exchange for a promise of financial gain, allowing them to register a company with her as president of the management board, open corporate bank accounts, and create an ePUAP profile necessary for registering the declarations. It appears that the promised benefit was never fulfilled,” the Border Guard added.

The detained woman has been charged with organizing other people’s illegal crossing of the state border, which carries a penalty of up to 8 years in prison, as well as crimes against the credibility of documents. The prosecutor imposed police supervision and a ban on leaving Poland. The woman has been released.
