The prosecutor’s office is examining materials concerning a flag symbolizing the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), which appeared during a concert by a Belarusian rapper at Warsaw’s National Stadium.
Karolina Staros, spokesperson for the Warsaw-Praga District Prosecutor’s Office, confirmed that a preliminary inquiry is underway. She noted that any additional complaints regarding the incident—already announced in the media—will be attached to the case and reviewed collectively.
“The incident is being analyzed in terms of whether it constitutes a prohibited act, namely: promoting a Nazi, communist, fascist, or other totalitarian system, or inciting hatred on the basis of nationality, ethnicity, race, religion, or lack thereof; publicly promoting Nazi, communist, fascist ideology, or an ideology advocating violence as a means of shaping political or social life,” she added.
In early August, Belarusian rapper Maks Korzh performed at the National Stadium. During the event, OUN-UPA flags were spotted among the crowd—an issue publicized by PiS MP Dariusz Matecki, who declared he would submit a notification to the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office.
The concert also saw mass detentions: Warsaw police took 109 individuals into custody for various offenses and crimes, including drug possession, assaulting security personnel, possession and use of pyrotechnics, as well as unlawful entry into the event area. Police issued fines to 50 people totaling approximately 11,500 PLN and filed 38 motions with the court seeking punishment.
