Warsaw chamber musicians delighted Viennese audience

Last weekend (11.02), a concert in the ‘Music of the Masters’ series took place in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein. The MACV – Orchestra Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviens of the Warsaw Chamber Opera conducted by maestro Michael Maciaszczyk won the hearts of the Viennese audience with a bravura performance of Joseph Haydn’s Symphony in G major Hob. I:88 and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A major Op. 92.

The MACV Orchestra is a permanent ensemble of the Warsaw Chamber Opera. The orchestra has been led by dr hab. Alicja Węgorzewska-Whiskerd for many years. The MACV musicians play on historical instruments, thus achieving a magnificent sound that allows the full brilliance of the works performed to be heard.

Performing in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Society of Friends of Music is a great honour for any artist. It is in this hall that, since 1871, the sounds of the finest orchestras have resounded, conducted by the most eminent conductors from Gustav Mahler and Herbert von Karajan to Leonard Bernstein and our contemporaries Zubin Mehta and Christian Thielemann.

The Warsaw Chamber Opera is a cultural institution of the Mazovian Voivodeship Government.
