This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, a pivotal moment in Poland’s history. On August 1, at 5 PM, air raid sirens will sound across the Mazowieckie Voivodeship. The continuous signal will last for one minute, honoring the bravery of those who fought for Poland’s freedom.
Annual Commemoration
The annual tribute aims to remember the heroes of the Uprising who sacrificed so much for a free Poland. This year’s observance is particularly significant, highlighting the profound impact of these events not only on Warsaw and Mazowsze but on the entire nation.
Mariusz Frankowski, the Mazowieckie Voivode, has urged local officials to activate the sirens as a mark of respect. The siren test will also serve to verify the effectiveness of local alert systems, ensuring they function correctly in times of crisis.
