    Warsaw Uprising

Established by the Warsaw City Council on March 13, 2003, the holiday replaced the previously intended Warsaw Day, which was to be celebrated on the same date. The shift in focus underscores the importance of remembering the Uprising, a major act of resistance against the German occupation.

The centrepiece of the day’s commemorations is a ceremonial session of the Warsaw City Council held at the Royal Castle. This prestigious event brings together city officials, veterans, and residents to honour the memory of those who fought and perished during the Uprising.
