U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday during an interview with Fox News that authorities had captured the killer of Charlie Kirk. He said this was possible thanks to information from a pastor who is friends with the perpetrator’s family.
“With a high degree of certainty I can say that we have him in custody. Everyone did a great job,” Trump said during the interview at the Fox News studio in New York. Trump revealed that the arrest was made possible thanks to a tip from a clergyman who knew the suspect’s family, whose identity has not yet been disclosed.
“It was a clergyman who took it to a friend who was connected to law enforcement (…). Then the father (of the perpetrator) got involved and told him: ‘you have to surrender,’” Trump recounted.
The president declined to provide information about the perpetrator’s motive, but said he wants him to be sentenced to death.
