What a Coincidence! Ziobro Mentions Giertych – Prosecutor Targets Him Over Giertych Case

Yesterday Zbigniew Ziobro revealed new information about the Roman Giertych case, and today the Prosecutor General (PG) announced that he will prosecute the President of the Constitutional Tribunal (TK) for the investigation regarding Giertych. Minister Waldemar Żurek today submitted to the TK a request to hold Bogdan Święczkowski criminally responsible, and to the Supreme Court (SN) a request to lift the immunity of prosecutor Paweł Wilkoszewski.

Yesterday, during a hearing before the Pegasus Commission, Zbigniew Ziobro spoke extensively about the Polnord scandal. He repeatedly mentioned Roman Giertych’s involvement. The lawyer from Civic Platform immediately threatened the former head of the Ministry of Justice with a report to the prosecutor’s office.

“He is not a victim in this case, he is a thief who organized on a large scale the scheme of siphoning millions of zlotys from Polnord at the expense of the shareholders,” Ziobro explained. He also added that Roman Giertych has, “to put it mildly, a reason not to like me and to take revenge.”

And what a coincidence… today the Polnord case was taken up by Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek. Prosecutor Anna Adamiak confirmed that the Pegasus system had been used against Roman Giertych in the said case. However, she did not comment on the evidence or charges against Giertych himself. The Prosecutor General concluded instead that the wrong people had handled the material during the investigation, and in this way a pretext was found to pursue the President of the Constitutional Tribunal, Bogdan Święczkowski, and prosecutor Paweł Wilkoszewski.

Both are protected by immunity, which is why the Prosecutor General applied accordingly to the Constitutional Tribunal and to the Supreme Court for consent to lift it. It was also announced that Wilkoszewski has been suspended from official duties. Dariusz Korneluk submitted a request to initiate disciplinary proceedings against him.
