What Did the Presidents of Poland and the United States Discuss? Morawiecki on Karol Nawrocki’s “Great Success”

“A permanent U.S. military base is a breakthrough, because it clearly raises the security threshold of the Republic of Poland,” said former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. As he reported, this was precisely the topic that Polish President Karol Nawrocki recently discussed with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Last week, President Karol Nawrocki took part in the World Economic Forum in Davos. During the event, he met, among others, with U.S. leader Donald Trump.

As later reported by the head of the President’s Office for International Policy, Marcin Przydacz, the talks covered issues of security, energy and economic cooperation, as well as the situation in Eastern Europe.

Information about the presidents’ conversation was also shared by the deputy leader of Law and Justice (PiS), Mateusz Morawiecki. In an interview with Echo24 television, the former prime minister stated that the president had also raised the issue of the presence of U.S. troops in Poland.

This concerns a permanent U.S. base on Polish territory. According to the Law and Justice (PiS) politician, this is a “great success of President Nawrocki.”

“As far as I know, he recently spoke with President Trump about a permanent American base in Poland. A permanent base […] of U.S. troops is a breakthrough, because it clearly raises the security threshold of the Republic of Poland thanks to the presence of American forces,” he said, stressing that the establishment of the base “is realistic.”

He added that he would like “Poland to also have a nuclear security umbrella, but realistically speaking, I am very pleased that President Nawrocki is negotiating with the White House in such a way that we get what we can have in the near future.”
