What Do Poles Fear the Most? Three Answers Dominate

“What do you fear the most in 2026?” — this question was answered by Poles in the latest survey. Respondents were allowed to choose only three answers.

The year 2025, which is coming to an end, and the events of recent months have stirred many concerns among Poles. The latest survey shows that these fears are concentrated primarily around national security, but also around health and the overall condition of the system.

United Surveys by IBRiS, on behalf of Wirtualna Polska, conducted a poll in which respondents were asked what they fear most in 2026.

They were presented with several options and could select a maximum of three:

  • rising costs of living
  • threats to national security
  • political instability and internal disputes in the country
  • problems with access to healthcare
  • deterioration of one’s own health or the health of loved ones
  • loss of a job or source of income
  • climate change and extreme weather events

What Topped the List

The most frequently selected answers concerned healthcare. As many as 47.5 percent of respondents pointed to problems related to the healthcare system. Close behind, 45.3 percent expressed concern about a deterioration in their own health or that of their loved ones.

The third most commonly chosen response was fear of threats to national security, selected by 44.2 percent of respondents. Slightly fewer — 43.3 percent — pointed to the country’s internal political situation.

Concerns about rising living costs ranked somewhat lower. Inflation, utility bills, and food prices are a real worry for 41.5 percent of those surveyed.

Far fewer people — 21.8 percent — fear losing their job. At the very bottom of the list were concerns related to climate change and extreme weather events, which worry just 7.9 percent of Polish respondents.
