“It will soon be two years since they announced the “Eastern Shield”. Meanwhile, when a delegation from the European Union came to Poland, they had to build a MODEL just to show anything at all… It looks dramatically weak,” Paweł Jabłoński writes on X. The Law and Justice (PiS) MP has still not received a response to his parliamentary interpellation submitted in September last year.
“What exactly has been built under the ‘Eastern Shield’ since 31 March 2025? What funds have been spent on this project from 31 March 2025 to 13 September 2025? How much of that money came from EU funds?” with these questions Jabłoński addressed the Ministry of National Defence on 13 September last year.
The fifth month of the ministry’s silence has just begun. Jabłoński again demanded any response at all on X.
“What does Poland’s security look like under Tusk’s team? Here you go: FOUR MONTHS AGO I addressed the Ministry of National Defence with an interpellation on the progress of building the ‘Eastern Shield’. And silence,” the politician writes.
He reminds readers that the statutory deadline for a reply is 21 days. “There must be some serious problem there – because if they were building something, they would probably boast about it, right?” he asks rhetorically.
“It will soon be two years since they announced this program. Meanwhile, when an EU delegation came to Poland, they had to build a MODEL just to show anything at all… It looks dramatically weak,” the PiS MP concludes.
In May 2024, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the assumptions of the National Defence and Deterrence Plan “Eastern Shield”. The program, for which the government then pledged PLN 10 billion, envisages, among other things, the construction of fortifications and barriers along the eastern border.
