“This is the end of this government, merely postponed slightly by yesterday’s vote,” stated Przemysław Czarnek, a Member of Parliament from Law and Justice (PiS), during an appearance on Polsat News.
On Wednesday, the Sejm expressed a vote of confidence in Donald Tusk’s government. 243 MPs voted in favor, 210 voted against, and no one abstained. However, prior to the vote, Tusk delivered a policy speech that, according to the opposition, lacked substance and specific proposals.
Czarnek: This Government Is on Its Way Out
While speaking on Polsat News, Przemysław Czarnek declared that the end of the current government is drawing near.
“In our view — and in my personal opinion — this is clearly a government in decline. The only question is when it will fall. It’s entirely possible that it could happen as early as this autumn,” he said. In his assessment, “this is the end of this government, just slightly delayed by yesterday’s vote.”
A Coalition for Polish Affairs?
Czarnek also claimed that some politicians from within the December 13 coalition might be interested in forming a new coalition focused on Polish national interests.
“This government must cease to function. And within this coalition, there are already individuals who are absolutely ready to create a coalition for Polish affairs, because they can clearly see what is happening.”
“Today, there is no other politician — and almost no other officeholder, given that we are speaking of the president-elect — who enjoys such strong relations with our most important ally, not only in terms of defense, but also in economic, infrastructural, and energy development: the United States.”
