Questioning of Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski, the former head of the surgery department at Warsaw’s South Hospital, who publicly reported irregularities at the facility, concluded shortly before 7:00 p.m. at the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office. The questioning lasted nearly 10 hours. “The questioning was very productive. The doctor answered all the questions he was asked,” said prosecution spokesperson Piotr A. Skiba.
Dr. Jędrzejewski appeared at the prosecutor’s office after speaking publicly about alleged irregularities at Warsaw’s South Hospital.
The questioning lasted nearly 10 hours.
Speaking to reporters, Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson Prosecutor Piotr A. Skiba said the questioning had been “very productive” and that the doctor “answered all the questions that were put to him.”
“The prosecutors who conducted the questioning are satisfied with what they were able to learn. Based on this testimony, further procedural steps are being planned. The interview record consists of 29 pages. Neither the witness nor his legal representative raised any objections regarding the content of the record or the manner in which the questioning was conducted. This record, this testimony, makes it necessary to obtain additional documentation from Warsaw’s South Hospital,” the spokesperson said.
He added that documentation and electronic data storage devices had already been secured at the hospital last week.
When asked by reporters, Skiba stated that the doctor’s phone had not been seized.
“All the information that was of interest to the prosecutors conducting the questioning and relevant from the witness’s perspective was shown to the prosecutors on the phone, and the exact content of those messages was accurately reflected in the interview record,” he said.
He described it as the first major questioning in the investigation concerning Warsaw’s South Hospital.
Series of Questionings
“Based on these documents, we have already scheduled witness interviews that will begin this week. These interviews will be conducted at the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office and the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau. Taking into account the additional information provided to prosecutors today, we see the need to secure additional medical records as well as organizational documentation from Warsaw’s South Hospital,” Prosecutor Skiba said.
He added that the witness list “is growing,” mainly including medical personnel employed at Warsaw’s South Hospital.
No Questioning of Public Officials for Now
Responding to journalists’ questions, Prosecutor Piotr A. Skiba said that public officials responsible for oversight would not be questioned at this stage.
“At this point, we see no grounds for questioning individuals responsible for supervision. Our primary focus is on the functioning of the individual departments at Warsaw’s South Hospital. This is because our first priority is to verify issues that may affect the hospital’s operations and patient safety,” the spokesperson explained.
He added that medical staff would be questioned in a way that would not disrupt the hospital’s operations, particularly its Emergency Department.
“I will not hide the fact that we are guided above all by the welfare of patients and society, and we are committed to clarifying and resolving these issues. At the same time, we will be planning the questioning of other individuals,” he said.
Materials Submitted by Kacprzyk
“The Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office has received materials submitted by Dr. Dawid Kacprzyk. They are quite extensive in terms of volume. They also include the location where he is currently staying in Poland, along with his contact details. If we decide to conduct investigative activities involving this witness, we already know how to contact him and where to locate him,” the prosecution spokesperson stated.
