White-and-red on the border bridge in Słubice: “We’re going to show that this is Poland”

Yesterday, border defenders hung eight Polish flags on the bridge in Słubice. “We need to show that we do not accept the hiding of Polish colors and symbols,” said Robert Bąkiewicz.

The Border Defense Movement remains active at the Polish-German border, continuing its efforts to protect the country from the influx of illegal migrants being funneled into Poland from Germany. Last night, members of the movement decided to demonstrate their patriotism by hanging eight white-and-red flags on the border bridge in Słubice. This act was a response to an earlier incident—when citizens displayed banners on the bridge opposing illegal migration, they were ordered to remove them on the grounds that the bridge… is under German administration.

“We must show that we do not consent to the concealment of Polish colors and symbols. We are going to show all Poles that this is Poland. We need to show that Poland is strong—in spirit, in its colors, in its history, and its culture,” said Robert Bąkiewicz.

“They envy us—that at last, Poles are wise before the damage is done. They envy us our safety, and the fact that we haven’t severed the roots of our civilization, culture, and history,” added Jacek Wrona, also an active member of the Border Defense Movement. Adam Borowski, anti-communist opposition activist and chairman of the Warsaw branch of the Gazeta Polska Club, also took part in hanging the flags on the bridge.

It must be said—the bridge in Słubice, adorned in white and red, looks beautiful. Because, as the members of the Border Defense Movement rightly pointed out—this is Poland.
