White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Friday that the United States is closely monitoring the Russian navy’s provocations during meetings of European leaders in Copenhagen, stressing that Washington treats such actions against the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) very seriously.
“This is something the administration takes very seriously, and we are constantly monitoring it. The National Security Council (NSC) at the White House is in regular contact with our NATO allies, and the president is also speaking with many of them,” Leavitt stated during a press briefing.
Her remarks followed reports from Denmark of Russian naval intrusion attempts in the strait linking the Baltic Sea with the North Sea.
