Who will accompany the President of Ukraine in the US? The list of EU leaders keeps growing

The first reports mentioned NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Finnish President Alexander Stubb. Now the list of EU leaders has expanded with more names. In the White House, Volodymyr Zelensky will be supported by additional European leaders.

Three days after the talks between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Washington, the US President announced a meeting with the Ukrainian leader. Volodymyr Zelensky, however, will not come to this meeting alone. He is to be accompanied by EU leaders – and the list is growing by the hour.

Initially, it was supposed to be NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Finnish President Alexander Stubb.

A growing list

Further official reports indicate that the President of Ukraine has invited additional leaders to join him in the talks in Washington.

European Commission (KE) President Ursula von der Leyen has already confirmed her participation. A spokesman for the German government announced that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will also travel to the United States. He emphasized that the leaders will exchange views with the US President “on the state of peace efforts, security guarantees, territorial issues, and further support for Ukraine.”

French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will also take part in the meeting with Trump at the White House.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has likewise confirmed his departure to the United States.

More and more often, the question arises whether Poland will also be represented at the table – and by whom. The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MSZ) in Warsaw informed that in Sunday’s talks of the so-called coalition of the willing, Poland will be represented by the head of Polish diplomacy, Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski.
