Who won the elections in Hungary? Zbigniew Ziobro: “The result will be crucial for the EU and Poland”

“These elections are important not only for Hungary, but for all of Europe,” said former justice minister Zbigniew Ziobro on TV Republika, before the announcement of the Hungarian decision. He stressed that if the government of Viktor Orbán is overthrown, changes may occur in the European Union that could shake Poland.

As Ziobro pointed out, the significance of the elections in Hungary is reflected, among other things, in the involvement of the United States. “The stakes of these elections, for those who understand their importance, are more than just a change of one government in one of the European Union countries. It is more than a change of a conservative government that has long held a clear and distinctive position on many issues contrary to the liberal-left mainstream of the European Union,” he said.

“The European Union is so heavily involved in these elections, it attacks Prime Minister Orbán so strongly, and supports Péter Magyar, also with the help of figures such as Donald Tusk and Radosław Sikorski, because it wants to use the absence of a strong conservative prime minister in 2026 in order to push through these changes within the framework of the new seven-year budget during this time window, when there would be no other government besides the Hungarian one capable of vetoing fundamental systemic changes in Europe,” he said.

He described the aforementioned changes as “a nuclear weapon”. He explained that they would involve the possibility of blocking all funds under the pretext of rule-of-law conditionality. “That is, an arbitrary, political decision by the left-wing establishment governing the European Union, acting on Berlin’s strings,” he said.

“This means that if they succeed in removing Prime Minister Orbán, in 2026 they intend to introduce a mechanism that in the future could hit Poland with three times greater force than SAFE […] SAFE amounts to €43 billion, whereas the projected budget for Poland is over €100 billion. This means that Donald Tusk and his entire circle want to orchestrate far-reaching changes that go beyond any solutions known so far in the European treaties and grant enormous power of destruction,” he added.

He emphasized that the entire plan still revolves around transforming the European Union into a single state that would be subject to Berlin’s policy.
