Wilfredo Leon Prioritizes Family in Transfer to LUK Lublin

Wilfredo Leon and his wife This move is being called one of the biggest transfer deals in Poland’s PlusLiga. However, Leon revealed that his decision was not driven by financial motivations, but by a desire to prioritize his family’s well-being.

Leon, who recently left Italy’s Perugia despite receiving numerous lucrative offers, explained his choice was centered on his children’s education. “I want my children to attend a Polish school,” said the Cuban-born Polish national team player, who won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics.

He emphasized that his decision to join Lublin was based on the family-first principle. “If it was about money, there were better offers. But I chose LUK Lublin because of my family. My children were born in Poland, they are Polish, and they need to know their native language,” Leon explained in an interview with Przegląd Sportowy.

Leon’s commitment to his family mirrors his devotion on the court, where his recent Olympic success was dedicated to God and his loved ones.
