Will Tusk’s Government Survive Until the 2027 Elections? New Poll Suggests Trouble Ahead for the Prime Minister

Nearly 40% of respondents believe that the “December 13 coalition” will not last until the next parliamentary elections in 2027. Among opposition voters, more than 50% share that opinion.

Yesterday, during its convention, the Civic Platform formally absorbed two smaller parties that were already in close cooperation with it, the Polish Initiative and Nowoczesna, thereby re-establishing a project under a familiar name: the Civic Coalition.

“What are we called from today? We are called the Civic Coalition, because as the Civic Coalition we have already won elections before, and we will win the next ones too,” said Donald Tusk during his speech.

Tusk noted that some might recall when, years ago, Civic Platform polled at just 12%.

“I said then that it would be 40%, and it became 42%. Today we are at 35%, and no one has the right to doubt or to be pessimistic,” he said.

Will the coalition last until 2027?

Even before the “unification” convention, a large portion of Poles believed that Tusk’s government would not make it to the 2027 elections. According to a United Surveys poll for wp.pl, 39.5% of respondents expressed that view.

An opposing 46% believed that the “December 13 coalition” will last until 2027.

Among coalition voters, there is significant optimism about the government’s stability – fully 74% of its electorate believe the government will survive the next two years. Only 13% think that the December 13 coalition will collapse before the elections.

In the opposition electorate, 51% of respondents expect early elections, while 32% think that Tusk’s coalition will govern for another two years.

Persistent negative assessments of the government’s actions contribute to the overall skepticism about the coalition’s durability. In regular polls, more than 50% of Poles give the December 13 coalition government a negative rating.
