The Beskidy Mountains are basking in a glorious winter aura, making it a perfect time for outdoor adventures. With sunny skies and mostly cleared trails, hiking conditions are favorable. An inversion phenomenon has brought warmer temperatures higher up, with 3–4°C on Markowe Szczawiny and Hala Miziowa, while Szczyrk remained chilly at -6°C.
Avalanche Alert Around Babia Góra
Despite the inviting weather, hikers should be cautious near Babia Góra, where a second-degree avalanche warning is in place. The risk is moderate, especially in gullies, depressions, and steep slopes. Safe passage requires knowledge of avalanche assessment, proper route selection, and adherence to safety protocols. The Perć Akademików trail remains closed.
Warm clothing is essential, along with crampons or microspikes for icy trails. Hikers heading to Babia Góra should also bring full crampons and trekking poles. A charged phone with the Rescue app, a power bank, and a flashlight are strongly recommended, as darkness falls early.
