Sikorski Continues His Attacks: “We Talk to North Korea and Iran, So Naturally Also to the Presidential Palace”

Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has continued his harsh criticism of President Karol Nawrocki, directing accusations at him on an almost daily basis. During an interview on RMF FM today, Sikorski compared the President’s center of power to the authoritarian regimes of Iran and North Korea.

Sikorski Escalates His Criticism

During the interview on RMF FM, Radosław Sikorski responded to remarks made by Presidential Minister Marcin Przydacz, who said that negotiations between the Chancellery of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over ambassadorial appointments had been ongoing for months. According to Przydacz, just as an agreement appeared to be within reach, Prime Minister Donald Tusk halted the process because he did not want any compromise with the President.

“The law states that the President signs ambassadorial appointments at the request of the Foreign Minister. He has had those requests for 338 days. I would remind you that his predecessor, under the same legal framework, signed 24 identical requests that I submitted. President Karol Nawrocki, meanwhile, has not signed a single one – including those concerning ambassadors who served during the eight years of Law and Justice (PiS) rule,” Sikorski said.

Later in the interview, the Foreign Minister expressed his frustration and launched further criticism of the President.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not being singled out because the President is also refusing to sign requests submitted by other ministries. So I don’t think this is about me. I think the President is trying to establish a presidential system without having the parliamentary majority required to amend the Constitution.”

When the interviewer pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had entered into talks with the Chancellery of the President and attempted to reach an agreement, Sikorski replied:

“I am always the first to support dialogue. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs talks to North Korea and Iran, so of course it also talks to the Presidential Palace.”
