    Wlazły becomes first Polish volleyball player to score 800 aces

    An unusual event took place in the meeting of the 26th round of PlusLiga BBTS Bielsko-Biała – Trefl Gdańsk. The captain of the ‘Gdańsk Lions’ Mariusz Wlazły served his 800th ace in his performance in the volleyball premier league.

    Mariusz Wlazły recently struggled with an injury and played in Trefl’s starting line-up for the first time in a long time. He celebrated his return with a remarkable feat.

    At the beginning of the second set, he showed off with a service ace and it was his 800th point play in the history of his PlusLiga appearances. In the ranking of all-time best-playing volleyball players in PlusLiga history, Wlazły is the absolute leader. Michał Ruciak is second (439 aces) and Mateusz Bieniek is third (354).

    Mariusz Wlazły is a Polish volleyball player, playing in the attacking position, he represents Poland. In 2022, during the Gala, he became a volleyball player of the 20th anniversary of the Polish Volleyball League.

    On 21 September 2014, with the Polish national team, he won the gold medal at the 2014 World Championships. At this tournament, he was named the most valuable player (MVP) and the best attacker. In 2014, he was awarded the Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
