Wojciech Nowicki Breaks Record in Diamond League

    Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

Polish athlete Wojciech Nowicki dominated the hammer throw competition at the Diamond League meeting in Oslo, securing first place with a remarkable throw of 81.92 meters. This achievement not only established a new record for the event and the prestigious Diamond League series but also propelled Nowicki to the top of the global rankings.

Despite a strong performance, Paweł Fajdek settled for fifth place in Oslo. Nowicki was the sole athlete to surpass the 80-meter mark, accomplishing this feat in his second attempt. Previously, the Białystok-native achieved outstanding throws in only two other contests: 82.52 meters at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and 82.00 meters at last year’s European Championships in Munich.

Rudy Winkler of the United States secured second place with a throw of 79.42 meters, while Canadian athlete Ethan Katzberg claimed the third spot with a distance of 77.93 meters. Norway’s Eivind Henriksen finished in fourth place with a throw of 76.52 meters.

Paweł Fajdek, representing Poland, produced his best performance of the season in the fourth series with a throw of 76.50 meters. He surpassed Hungary’s Bence Halasz (75.26 meters) and Norway’s Thomas Mardal (74.76 meters) to secure a respectable position.
