    Worldwide Celebrations Mark International Jazz Day 2024

    Thousands of performances and events across over 190 countries on all continents.

    The 13th International Jazz Day concluded with a historic All-Star Global Concert at the newly constructed Palace of Arts and Culture in Tanger. Hosted by renowned actor Jeremy Irons, the event featured numerous stellar artists from around the globe.

    A Diverse Lineup

    The stage lit up with performances by jazz icons such as Herbie Hancock, Claudia Acuña, and Ambrose Akinmusire, alongside master gnawa musician Abdellah El Gourd.

    Musical Highlights

    Dee Dee Bridgewater’s rendition of Chick Corea’s “Spain” showcased the cultural bonds between Morocco and Spain, while Jazzmeia Horn delivered a swinging performance of “Free Your Mind” with Ambrose Akinmusire and Billy Childs.

    Tributes and Homage

    From Richard Bona’s soulful rendition of “Esoka Bulu (Night Whisper)” to T.K. Blue and Abdellah El Gourd’s tribute to Moroccan gnawa and American jazz with “Blue Moses,” the concert was a celebration of musical diversity.

    A Celebration of Unity

    Femi Kuti’s electrifying performance of “One People, One World” emphasized the message of unity, while Kurt Elling paid tribute to Wayne Shorter with “Speak No Evil.”

    Global Impact

    International Jazz Day 2024 saw thousands of concerts, masterclasses, and educational initiatives across 190 countries, with the All-Star Global Concert serving as the culmination.
