“Gdańsk is our common home,” “intercultural family fair,” “building bridges across borders,” “creating a shared future—regardless of language or origin” — these are just some of the lofty slogans of Civic Coalition (KO) councilor Sylwia Cisoń. The very same person who carried out a scandalous, vulgar attack on a taxi driver. Online, users are congratulating Barbara Nowacka on having such an office director — “great choice!”
Sylwia Cisoń, a Gdańsk city councilor from the Civic Coalition and also the director of MP Barbara Nowacka’s parliamentary office, carried out a scandalous, vulgar attack on a taxi driver. The incident came to light thanks to dashcam footage published by the portal trojmiasto.pl, which contradicts the initial version of events presented by the local official.
The incident occurred after the councilor, unhappy about the allegedly wrong address she had been driven to, verbally attacked the driver. Contrary to her initial suggestion that the driver did not speak Polish, the recording shows he speaks fluently and calmly.
Unlike the driver, Councilor Cisoń did not mince words. The recording captures her vulgar and xenophobic remarks. Addressing the driver, she said:
“If you don’t know your way around, then you should f***ing go back to your own country. And not f***ing be in a country where you don’t know the language and don’t know how to drive.”
The KO councilor’s scandalous behavior did not escape internet users’ attention. Online, people recalled the kinds of initiatives Cisoń eagerly took part in, promoted, and how their message diverges from what we see in the video.
“Gdańsk is our common home,” “intercultural family fair,” “building bridges across borders,” “creating a shared future—regardless of language or origin” — these are just some of the lofty slogans of Nowacka’s office director.
