“These are not luxury yachts – those are too expensive – just sailboats. This is pure disinformation from Law and Justice (PiS), which wants the government to trip over its own feet” – this is how Maciej Wróbel, politician from the Civic Coalition (KO), Deputy Minister of Culture, comments on the projects financed from the National Recovery Plan (KPO).
As part of the KPO scandal, it came to light what the funds from the National Recovery Plan were being spent on. The money, theoretically meant to revive the hotel and restaurant industry, was spent on rather bizarre purposes. A tanning bed in a pizzeria, yachts, overnight stays in “kebab joints”, or luxury cars – these are just a few examples. Yachts in particular have become the symbol of the scandal over spending funds that were supposed to contribute to the country’s development.
“We’re giving the yachts back – one, two, three! In the near future, this is the only way to get out of this crisis and this thievery, which will have to be judged from a legal and criminal perspective” – said today during a press conference PiS MEP Waldemar Buda, appealing to the HoReCa industry.
The ruling coalition insists there is no scandal, claiming it concerns only a few cases and a small percentage of the entire KPO pool – and if there is a scandal, it is PiS scandal.
When it comes to the yachts, a few days ago a post appeared on the profile “Zabornia: Radni dzielnicy Ujeścisko-Łostowice OC i PC” stating, “For PLN 500,000, you can buy yourself a dinghy, but there’s no shortage of fools in Poland who get worked up over this.” Today, KO MP and Deputy Minister of Culture Maciej Wróbel expressed a similar view.
