Zbigniew Ziobro: “I will not appear voluntarily before the commission. I will not legalize lawlessness”

Zbigniew Ziobro is set to be brought before Magdalena Sroka’s investigative commission on Pegasus on Monday. The former Minister of Justice claims the commission is acting illegally and announces that he will not appear voluntarily. It is unclear whether he will be in Poland at all.

Yesterday, the Constitutional Tribunal informed about a letter from its president, Bogdan Święczkowski, to Police Chief Marek Boron. In the letter, the president of the Constitutional Tribunal emphasized that any detention and forced appearance of Ziobro at the session of the “so-called investigative commission on Pegasus” by officers would constitute illegal action, potentially creating legal, including criminal, liability for those officers.

“The police might as well say that they dislike the position of the Constitutional Tribunal, so they will arrest them. This is the same level of idiocy and complete disregard for the rule of la,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said today.

The words of Prime Minister Tusk were addressed by the person concerned in this matter, the former Minister of Justice himself.

“The devil Tusk has put on a chasuble and is ringing the mass with his tail – Zbigniew Ziobro commented in an interview with TV Republika. He emphasized that the Prime Minister has an absolute duty to publish the rulings of the Constitutional Tribunal. “Moreover, he even refuses to pay judges’ salaries,” Ziobro added.

How will you act in this situation? – the question was asked. “I will not appear voluntarily before any commission; at the moment I am abroad for rehabilitation. But whether I decide to be in Poland or not is yet to be determined. I certainly will not appear voluntarily, because I will not legalize lawlessness, and in this case, an obvious crime,” Ziobro replied.

It should be recalled that the police have already detained Zbigniew Ziobro and brought him before Magdalena Sroka’s commission. At that time, the commission did not wait for the former minister, who was in the Sejm building, but fled the session, previously passing a motion for temporary detention – the court, however, rejected this motion, crushing the commission’s narrative.
