Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, posted on X a preliminary motion concerning bringing Zbigniew Ziobro before the State Tribunal. So far, only five MPs have signed the photographed motion, including himself.
“Przyszła kryska na Matyska is a Polish proverb meaning that a clever rogue (someone who had been doing well in fraud and mischief) has finally been caught and has met a deserved punishment—the end of his luck or fortune,” Czarzasty wrote on X.
He presented a motion submitted by a group of MPs and addressed to the Sejm Speaker. By doing so, Czarzasty affixed his signature to a document that is formally addressed to himself.
The politicians intend to seek constitutional and criminal liability for Zbigniew Ziobro before the State Tribunal.
Recently, Czarzasty also announced that if Zbigniew Ziobro does not justify his absence from Sejm sittings by 28 January, he will initiate procedures that could result in the withdrawal of Ziobro’s parliamentary salary.
Last week, another hearing was held regarding the issue of pre-trial detention for Ziobro. Earlier, on 22 December last year, the judge adjourned the hearing due to—according to the court—the prosecution’s failure to attach classified materials to the motion for detention.
On 15 January, the defense filed a motion to exclude the judge handling the case. The reason was the judge’s refusal to include in the hearing record a note about evidence that, according to the defense, is favorable to their client. As a result of this motion, the hearing was once again adjourned—this time until 5 February of this year.
