“This is what happens when someone tries to pose as a strong lumberjack but turns out to be nothing more than a weakling,” said Zbigniew Ziobro, commenting on the actions taken against him by the prosecution. The matter concerns a letter from Waldemar Żurek to the Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, which could result in the PiS politician being brought before the State Tribunal.
The prosecution announced yesterday that Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek has submitted to the Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, a document outlining 26 charges against Zbigniew Ziobro. The alleged crimes relate to supposed irregularities surrounding the Justice Fund. The document sent may serve as a basis for the Sejm to consider whether there are grounds to potentially bring the former justice minister before the State Tribunal.
“Maybe just go straight to the guillotine?”
The Law and Justice politician, currently in Budapest, addressed Żurek’s action on X. “Comrade Żurek, since you are unable to effectively detain me, you’ve now come up with the State Tribunal. Why so unambitious? Maybe go straight for the guillotine?” he asked.
“This is what happens when someone tries to pretend to be a strong lumberjack but is just a pathetic weakling. Your friends from Strong Together must be sincerely disappointed in you. Every day you serve up a new display of inefficiency and embarrassment. Even Mrożek couldn’t have imagined such a caricature of a minister heading the justice department,”
said the opposition politician.
He also referred to Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s statements about pre-trial detention. “And your boss has already publicly declared that I will be arrested, yet there are no results,” he pointed out.
“It’s frightening indeed – but only for your political neck,”
Ziobro assessed.
Custody for the PiS MP
The detention hearing for the former justice minister is scheduled for 22 December at the District Court for Warsaw-Mokotów. A month earlier, the court had already contacted the Convoy Unit of the Warsaw Metropolitan Police with a letter requesting – as a procedural precaution – that the date of the hearing be secured. TV Republika obtained the document.
“The court is showing far-reaching procedural caution, not wanting its actions to be perceived in advance as biased […] I have participated in numerous such hearings. I have never issued such an order,” said Piotr Schab, the lawful Disciplinary Spokesman for Judges of Ordinary Courts, in an interview with the portal Niezalezna.pl, commenting on the letter.
