    EU online summit – how to save the economy?

    The reconstruction of the European economy is the main topic of the European Union leaders’ summit launched this afternoon. The summit takes place online in the form of a teleconference. In an interview for the German daily “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki mentioned that Europe is in need of a new “Marshall Plan”. Poland proposes that part of the funds to finance the reconstruction of the European economy after the coronavirus pandemic come from new taxes: digital, financial transactions and global international corporations.

    “We must be aware that the decisions we make today are existential; we must do everything in our power to save European dreams, plans and ambitions. This is unbelievably difficult, because it requires simultaneous action in many areas and fields. The economy and healthcare need a rescue plan. So today, we shall draw the most important rules of the new European equation”, stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
