After nearly two decades of evading justice, a 48-year-old man has been apprehended by police in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. The fugitive, wanted on charges of fraud, document forgery, and assault, had been the subject of four arrest warrants. Authorities in Opole confirmed on Tuesday that the man was transferred to prison to serve a four-year sentence.
For 19 years, the suspect successfully avoided capture by frequently changing residences, using false identities, and traveling abroad. Police investigators, combing through extensive case files, recently identified potential hideouts and determined that the man had likely returned to Poland.
Acting on this intelligence, officers located the fugitive in Lower Silesia, where he was living in a concealed apartment. He was reportedly taken by surprise during the arrest. Following formal procedures, he was escorted to a detention facility to begin his sentence.
