“Choose a normal Poland on May 18!” — this is the message displayed by Jagiellonia Białystok supporters on a banner during their recent match. The fans of Poland’s reigning champions listed values they believe voters should uphold — without naming any candidates directly.
On May 18 and June 1, Poles will elect a new president. As the campaign heats up, politics has made its way into the stadiums. Supporters from across the country have not held back in criticizing Rafał Trzaskowski, with fans of Warsaw’s clubs — Legia and Polonia — among those openly voicing their disapproval on banners.
In contrast, Jagiellonia fans took a different approach. During the match against Górnik Zabrze, which ended in a 1–1 draw, they unfurled a banner with no mention of any politician, but the message was unmistakable: “Family, patriotism, Christianity, tradition, security, sovereignty. May 18 — choose a normal Poland!”
“Applause for the fans!” commented MP Adam Andruszkiewicz in response to the display.
