24-Year-Old Polish Woman Dies After Attack by Migrant. Silent March Begins in Toruń

Following the tragic death of 24-year-old Klaudia, who was attacked during the night of June 11–12 in Glazja Park by a 19-year-old foreign national, a Silent March is now taking place through the streets of Toruń’s Old Town. Klaudia, a bartender and PhD student at Nicolaus Copernicus University, passed away in hospital after two weeks of fighting for her life. The brutal incident has shocked the entire country.

The Silent March, organized by nationalist and patriotic groups, has drawn large crowds. Participants set off from the Old Market Square and are heading toward Glazja Park — the scene of the tragic attack on Klaudia K. The event is a quiet demonstration, intended as a moment of collective reflection, a tribute to the deceased, and a gesture of support for her family and loved ones.

Young Woman Has Died

Klaudia K. died on Friday, June 27, two weeks after the brutal assault. The autopsy revealed that the direct cause of death was brain trauma. The 19-year-old Venezuelan national stabbed her multiple times, inflicting numerous wounds to the head, neck, and chest, as well as defensive injuries to her hands. According to the investigation, Klaudia was attacked in the park by the young assailant while returning from work at around 1 a.m. A witness who heard the screams ran outside, startled the attacker, and called the police.

Klaudia received immediate medical assistance and was taken to the hospital. After a short pursuit, police apprehended the suspect a few streets away. The 19-year-old, Yomeykert R.S., a citizen of Venezuela, was intoxicated — tests showed a blood alcohol level of 1.2‰.

On June 13, the prosecutor charged him with attempted murder. The suspect refused to testify or answer any questions.

Due to the risk of flight and the severity of the potential sentence, the prosecutor requested that the District Court in Toruń impose pre-trial detention. The court agreed, ordering the suspect held for three months. A new interrogation is planned in the near future, along with an updated charge — most likely for murder.
