A Symbolic Date
July 11 marks the anniversary of the so-called Bloody Sunday – the deadliest day of the 1943 Volhynia Massacre. On that day, UPA units carried out coordinated attacks on dozens of Polish settlements in Volhynia, murdering thousands of civilians.
Since 2025, July 11 has been observed in Poland as the National Day of Remembrance for Poles – Victims of the Genocide Committed by the OUN and UPA in the Eastern Territories of the Second Polish Republic.
