PGE Foundation as a Partner of the “Race for Life”

The PGE Foundation has become a partner of the “Run for Life” charity run whose aim is to raise money for the health of less than one-year-old Filip Cholewa, who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The PGE Foundation has donated PLN 20 thousand for this purpose. As part of the action, Michał Piech started on June 25 from Świnoujście along the coast to the Vistula Spit near the Russian border.

“The PGE Foundation joined the charity run by donating approximately PLN 36 per kilometre of the route covered by Mr Michał Piech to help the less than one-year-old Filipek Cholewa, who suffers from SMA. The distance to be covered by Mr Michał is over 540 km, which gives a total of PLN 20 thousand, which will contribute to the national fundraising,” said Zbigniew Kajdanowski, President of the Management Board of the PGE Foundation.

The handing over of the cheque from the PGE Foundation took place on 30 June in Gdańsk at the PGE power plant after running over 460 km. There is less than 80km to go.

Before the start, Michał Piech visited Szczecin Power Plant belonging to PGE Branch – Dolna Odra Power Plant Complex and talked about the challenge:

“My challenge is the Run for Life. Filipek will turn one year old on July 11, and he is already struggling with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). I decided to run along the Polish coast from west to east to support a fundraiser for extremely expensive gene therapy for him,” said Michał Piech at the meeting in power plant Szczecin.

Michał Piech will run along the Polish coast from west to east, covering over 540 km,

to raise money for more than $9 million worth of therapy. Despite his Achilles tendon injury, he continues to run. Before that, he had already run the Mieczysław Orłowicz’s Main Sudetes Trail for Filipek, measuring over 440 km. At that time, he collected several thousand zlotys.

The PGE Foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Since the beginning, it has made over 1600 donations to various institutions and organizations. Financial assistance was awarded to support initiatives aimed at preserving historical memory, promoting culture, cultivating national identity, protecting and promoting health, as well as educational activities.
