On September 4, the 10th National Reading is held throughout Poland and abroad. The reading of this year’s campaign is “The Morality of Mrs. Dulska” by Gabriela Zapolska, which reminds the “Gazeta Polska Codziennie”.
“As every year, the event will be inaugurated by the presidential couple in Warsaw’s Saxon Garden,” reported GPC.
“During this year’s, tenth edition of the National Reading, we will meet to read “The Morality of Mrs. Dulska” by Gabriela Zapolska. This is a unique piece that condemns hypocrisy and mendacity. We find in its comedy and bitter irony, a masterful depiction of characters and a sense of language, but above all a universal moral message, which, in the name of honesty and justice, makes us condemn evil. Zapolska’s art enriched Polish literature with important social reflection. The term “dulszczyzna” entered the colloquial language permanently and was interpreted differently over the centuries, becoming the subject of vivid discussions,” President Andrzej Duda’s words from the commemorative letter were recalled.
It was emphasized that “National Reading will take place in over 2,000 places in Poland and abroad”, and the event were officially inaugurated at noon in Warsaw.
