On Saturday, September 25, the concert “Warsaw – the City of Heroes” will take place at Piłsudski Square. It is a tribute to all the inhabitants of the capital, whose heroism and courage during the German occupation are often forgotten. The concert and exhibition were prepared by the Society for Educational Projects in cooperation with the PGE Foundation as part of the “Plaques of Remembrance” project.
“The First World War for Warsaw was a time of fear, repression and German terror. All the inhabitants of the capital experienced it. “Warsaw – The City of Heroes” is a project that pays tribute to them,” says Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna (Polish Energy Group).
“Today, almost everyone knows what the Warsaw Uprising was, but only a few remember about secret teaching, which cost the lives of hundreds of teachers, sabotage actions or helping Jews,” says Paweł Zarzycki, President of the Educational Project Society, organizer of the project “Warsaw – City of Heroes”.
“Through this project, we want to talk about specific people and groups who have contributed to the greatness of the capital and uphold the spirit of the nation. It was their attitude that encouraged continuous resistance for almost six years, and today is or should be a model for many young people to whom we drive our actions,” he added.
The concert “Warsaw – City of Heroes” will be held on Saturday, September 25, at 17 at Piłsudski Square. Maleo Reggae Rockers will perform on stage, along with Ania Rusowicz, Marika, Mona, Kasia Malejonek, Ania Witczak and Darek “Maleo” Malejonek.
